Peter Cox

Peter Cox is a highly experienced business and insurance professional with a very broad practical, technical and operational skill set.   He has a remarkable ability to identify and apply business solutions to the most complex technical and practical problems.

 

From his base in the United Kingdom, he has worked his entire career in product development and integration in national and international markets.  He has worked closely on all aspects of motor vehicle technology and product development, including powertrain, controllers, active and passive safety systems, and Level 0-5 technologies.  He has negotiated, placed and managed all classes of insurance globally.  He has managed many high value contract and indemnity negotiations.  He has negotiated contracts for component supply, technology transfer, and joint ventures, particularly as they relate to risk allocation, risk management, and indemnity.  He has conducted insurance claims audits and set reserves.  He has evaluated the claims management operations of many companies.  He has managed claims under companies' SIR and in cooperation with primary and excess insurers.  He has supervised and managed the investigation and defense of high value, sensitive, and catastrophic claims.  He has worked closely with product liability defense counsel in the UK, the EU, and the US.  He has supported product defenses through discovery, witness preparation, jury selection, expert selection and management, and trial.

Peter is a Qualified Fellow by examination of Chartered Insurance Institute.

Alexander Geisler

Alex Geisler has two different but complimentary specialties.

​

As a London-based solicitor, Alex has been a trial lawyer and Team Lead for the Transportation Automotive & Logistics Industry group at a major international law firm.  He has developed, implemented, and overseen the defense of OEMs and suppliers in product litigation all over the world.  He has supported recalls and managed critical concerns.  He has gotten his hands dirty.  He has been onsite at R&D facilities, manufacturing plants, and accident sites, as well as courtrooms.  Among other areas, he advises auto makers on emissions reduction and autonomous vehicle technologies, regulations, certifications and type approvals of vehicles.

Additionally, Alex created the Lean Law Program, an innovation which enables law firms to adopt efficient, effective and transparent operations and allows clients to manage them. This is the toolset of choice by industry groups including Global Leaders in Law. He also developed bespoke training programs for the law departments of corporate clients. He is a CPD accredited course provider and regularly runs training courses on topics including product liability, careful communications, lean legal operations, process mapping and scenario planning. He writes for a number of industry titles, and is the resident legal columnist for Automotive Testing & Technology International. 

John Golden

John Golden has over 40 years of product liability experience in a wide array of industries, including automotive, agriculture, chemical, manufacturing,  and medical devices.  Located in Miami, John has been in the thick of the PL litigation explosion.  He is well-positioned to advise clients from all over the world, including South America.

John has had an a preeminent career conducting jury trials.  He was honored with membership in ABOTA.  His peers have voted him a Super Lawyer for many, many years.  In addition, he has served as national and regional trial and coordinating counsel for several Fortune 500 Companies.  He advises on and manages pattern litigation and individual cases.  He helps with the selection and preparation of witnesses.  He advises on electronic and traditional discovery.  He advises on the selection, control and monitoring of lead counsel, local counsel, and appellate counsel. He evaluates cases, assists with the setting of reserves, works with carriers at all levels and in all markets, and negotiates cases with opposing counsel.

John's range extends beyond the courtroom, to board rooms and R&D facilities.  He advises on matters of design, testing, fitment, marketing, distribution, service campaigns, and recalls.  He assists with government relations and media relations.  

Christopher Spencer

Chris Spencer has spent more than forty years on product liability cases in all fifty of the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico and Canada.  He was lead counsel in more than one hundred and thirty-five jury trials.  He handled thousands more cases that were resolved short of trial in mediations, arbitrations, and one-on-one negotiations.  He was national, regional, and issue specific discovery coordinating counsel for various companies.  He designed and developed defenses against pattern litigation.  He prepared and trained scores of corporate and technical witnesses in the United States, Asia, the United Kingdom, and Europe.  He trained engineers on various issues associated with claims and claim prevention.  He has written guides for the defense of various types of claims.  He has advised corporate legal departments and executives on a wide range of technical, product, and business issues.

In his consultancy, he continues to serve clients except as counsel of record.  He puts “fresh eyes” on individual cases and pattern litigation to see that best practices are followed and that balls are not dropped.  He advises legal departments on specific issues and general practices.  He trains engineers and managers so as to reduce product liability exposure.  He advises on fitment, deployment, warnings, risk allocation, indemnity, and all other aspects of product development and sale.  He trains witnesses to present the company case truthfully in the best light possible.
